I work in a persian cuisine, and i want to know if business is good in winter for dining restaurant?

Depends where you are located. If you are close to the beach, or in a tourist area, probably not. But other wise yes business will probably be good in the winter, especially around Christmas!

I have what I think is a great idea — a restaurant that specializes in salads to cater to the lunch crowd. I’d love to open a restaurant, but I have no experience outside of a fast food job I got fired from. Is it possible to start a successful restaurant with no experience, or is this just a pipe dream?

The next part is to get your business started, which costs money. If you think about it, you’ll have to buy or rent the building your business will operate out of, provide all of the things needed in a salad bar (tables, seats, chillers, etc…), along with paying taxes, employee salary, and purchasing the food from some sort of vendor. It’s a long laundry list of stuff, but you can see that to make money, you must first spend that money.

How you go about getting that money to start up is usually done in two ways; either through an Investor(s) or through a loan. An investor is someone that is going to invest money in you to get your business set up and running. This can be a family member, friend, or even a private investor. The other way is through a loan, which you’ll be responsible for paying back over time, just like college loans or credit cards.

If you happen to get the money to start up your business, and you’ve cleared everything with the state and the government, you’re pretty much set. Again, you’ll need to purchase or rent available space to have a building to operate out of and purchase all of the things to put into this building which will be your salad bar. You’ll obviously need to hire employees and create a staff to operate and maintain your business. Also, you’ll probably want to have somebody to cover you legally and someone to help you keep up on your taxes, finances, spending, earnings, etc…

Most small businesses fail within the first year. I don’t say this to scare you but more to encourage and enlighten you. Don’t be afraid to try something, even if others don’t understand it.
Starting up a small business can be fun but you also should do some research to find out more about the industry you’re getting into. You don’t have to have experience to do any of this, but it generally might help if you had some unique and interesting ideas, especially when you’re proposing your business idea to a potential investor.

We (I and my wife) had a great trip to this piece of Holland in the Caribbean. The Divi Aruba All Inclusive resort was wonderful. It has a large uncrowded beach, lots of sun, friendly staff, good food, and nice people. Facility is a little older but we liked it. Weather was great.

Food was good. We enjoyed the Blue Parrot Restaurant the most (inside and outside). It’s only open for dinner and you must make reservations but this was never a problem as long as we were flexible about the time. We tried the Italian restaurant (inside only), also only open for dinner. Did not think the food was as good as the Blue Parrot. The buffet restaurant was always good with a good selection. It’s outside near the beach. A wonderful view but you have to enjoy eating with a few bugs and birds. Sometimes getting drinks at the buffet restaurant was a little trouble. We liked the casual dining. Shorts, shirts, and shoes were all that were required but you could dress up if you liked.

Night life is slow at the Divi Aruba All Inclusive, just the way we like it. If you are looking for an energetic party atmosphere, this is not the place for you. There is some traffic noise from the nearby road but it did not bother us.

Rooms did not have screens on the doors so you had to keep the doors closed and the air conditioner running. They told us to keep the burglar bar down on the door but we always felt safe. The air conditioners in both of our rooms were a little noisier than we would have liked. Swam and snorkeled on the beach at the resort. Tipping was not expected but appreciated.

You can use dollars easily in Aruba. No need to worry about getting local currency. We drank the local water the entire trip and had no problems. It’s easy to get around by bus or taxi. Cost of taxi from airport was $18 one-way. Cost of taxi to downtown was $8 one way. You pay by the taxi not by the person. It cost $2 per person, round trip, to take a bus downtown that ran every twenty minutes from a bus stop in front of the resort.

To sum up: a great resort and a great trip. We are looking forward to come back next year.

Peanut allergy is fairly common with a prevalence rate of about 1 in 90 people in the United States. Unfortunately, peanut allergies can be severe and those with a peanut allergy need to be very cautious about eating food that has been prepared by someone else, especially in a restaurant, because even food that has no peanuts in it can cause an allergic reaction if it was prepared with the same equipment as food with peanuts. Peanuts are not actually nuts, but instead they are legumes and are more closely related to beans.

A rather alarming study was conducted by the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, or (FAAN), which found that the incidence of peanut allergy is rapidly on the rise and in fact doubled over a recent 5 year period.

A test carried out in the UK had similar results. In this study conducted by the David Hyde Asthma and Allergy Research Centre, 1273 children were tested and the results showed that 3.3% of the children tested positive which was up from 1.1% in a previous study a few years earlier. Also, it was determined that these children had a high degree of atopy which is a genetic inclination to develop asthma and allergy symptoms.

Although researchers are not sure exactly why allergies and asthma are increasing so rapidly, they do offer a few reasons for the increase in peanut allergy:

Pregnant women are consuming more peanuts and peanut products and passing them onto the unborn baby.

Breastfeeding babies are being exposed to larger amounts of peanuts which pass through the breast milk.

Vegetarianism is increasing and therefore more people are consuming plant based foods and vegetarian foods which often contain nuts, especially peanuts.

The study mentioned above also found that for those with peanut allergy, 79% had severe reactions and 66% had frequent reactions. Considering this, it is surprising that only 74% of the children and 44% of the adults sought medical help in controlling their peanut allergy. Of those that sought help, less than half of those were given a prescription for epinephrine which is the most often used drug to stop and reverse a life threatening allergic reaction.

According to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, peanut allergies account for 15,000 emergency room visits and around 100 deaths each year.

So how can you protect your self or your children if you suspect a peanut allergy? First of all, you must be tested to determine if in fact you do have the peanut allergy. If so, then it is important to closely follow the advice of your physician. You must practice strict avoidance of all foods which contain peanuts. This means you will need to read all ingredient labels of the foods you buy in the grocery store. You also need to be very careful about eating in restaurants or other people’s homes who might have previously prepared a food containing peanuts with the same equipment used to prepare your food.

If your doctor doesn’t suggest epinephrine shots, ask him about them. You carry the shot with you at all times in the event you do come into contact with a peanut and begin to have a reaction, you can self administer the epinephrine which just might save your life.

If it is your child with the peanut allergy, make sure your child understands the importance of avoiding peanuts in food. Also make sure her friends and their parents along with the school officials are aware of your child’s condition and know what to do in the event of an emergency.

uh…it’s a private business. If he chooses to lose the revenue by refusing to trade with you, it’s his decision unless you can show some type of race/sex/discrimination issue.
