I haven't been downtown but have recently moved to the suburbs from out of State. Pretty nice out here in the perimeter, except boring. Cincinnati is clearly not a night life kind of place.

I would suggest not sticking it out, it is not going to improve. Being from Los Angeles where neighborhoods change rapidly I can testify that these situations do not get better.

I don't understand why crime is so rampant since downtown is in a State where the laws allow both open and concealed (with permit) carry of pistols. An armed society is a polite society, no excuse for people being victimized. Well, except Cincinnati is in the bible belt, which not only makes people accept their Fate but also be the most cowardly drivers anywhere, no guts at all. Don't expect them to advance into an intersection to turn left unless they get an actual arrow.

But I digress.
Get out, no point in staying with a sinking ship. Kentucky is nice and the people have a self-sufficiency about them, the Pioneer Spirit.
References :
Whatever happened to WKRP? Loni Anderson could give Cincinnati a happy ending. And, hey, why is your airport in Kentucky?
